Password Self-Service
Use the 51ÁÔÆæ Password Self-Service tool to set your first password, change your current password, reset a forgotten password, or unlock your account after multiple incorrect password attempts.
51ÁÔÆæ does not provide a default password.
To access your account for the first time, you must create your own password by visiting and choosing Create First Password or Forgot Your Password?
- Enter your username
- Enter basic verification information
- You may be prompted to choose security questions and enter your responses.
- Enter and confirm your new password.
- Minimum length should be at least 12
- Number of special characters to include 1
- Must contain at least 1 upper case character(s)
- Number of numerals to include 1
- Must contain at least 1 lower case character(s)
Your password is required to access all 51ÁÔÆæ systems and should be kept secure. Do not share your password with anyone.
Student passwords must be changed at least every 120 days.
Go to enter your username and current password.
If you don’t know your username, contact the 51ÁÔÆæ helpdesk for assistance. 641-422-4357.
The 51ÁÔÆæ Self Service Password tool will ask you to set personalized security questions.
Default security questions may include basic personal information as well as information already associated with your 51ÁÔÆæ Student account.
Once you are logged into the password tool, you can choose different questions from the dropdown list. Choose two new questions and your replies.
Student Passwords will expire every 120 days.
To change your password before expiration, log into the password tool with your current password.
Choose the Change Password tab. Enter your old password, then enter and confirm your new password.
- Minimum length should be at least 12
- Number of special characters to include 1
- Must contain at least 1 upper case character(s)
- Number of numerals to include 1
- Must contain at least 1 lower case character(s)
Click Change Password to save your new password.
Visit choose Create First Password or Forgot Your Password?
Enter your username and click continue.
Answer the two security questions and click continue.
Enter and confirm your new password, click Reset password to continue.
Remember to sign out of the tool when you’re done.
Entering the wrong password three or more times will lock your account.
Visit choose Account Locked Out?
Enter your username and click continue.
Answer the two security questions and click continue.
Click Unlock Account.
Remember to sign out of the tool when you’re done.
